Credit Card And Debt
I have been hearing a lot of discussions about credit cards from my friends. Are they your true best friend, or your worst enemy? That depends on how you use the credit card. VISA, and Mastercard are some examples of credit cards. Swiping a plastic card through machine and getting everything you want is not easy at all!
First of all there are different types of credit cards. Some credit cards cost money, while some don't. Some offer you a lower rate, while others have rewards, but don't let all of this fool you, though. You really need to be careful with credit cards. The most common problem with credit cards is debt. You never, never, never ever want to be in debt. Debt is when you spend money on your credit card and you cannot pay back the money you owe. Debt is hard to get out of. Do you want to avoid debt? Here are 10 causes of debt. Try not to follow these causes.
1. The person's income reduce but their expenses are the same
This is very similar to when teens are spending way more than they are making. This won't put any money in their pockets. Teens like to spend on doodads, or 'toys'--things they don't actually need, and their credit cards help them with it. Using credit cards on things priced more than your income is an absolute no.
2. 1/2 of people end in divorce
Divorce is very hard to go through. I don't think young teens like me have ever gotten through a state of divorce, but from what I was taught, divorce is one main cause of debt, because divorce will cause you a lot of money.
3. Poor money management
This is why I made this website-to teach about money management. A good money manager stays away from debt. Money managers have to plan on how they are going to use that money. Without the knowledge of money management, teens could be spending hundreds of dollars and have no idea of how they are going to pay back the money that they owe.
4. Underemployment
Getting a job usually doesn't cost you much, so why not get one? It is not that teens don't know how to get a job. It is the fact that teens are incredibly lazy. Without a job, you will have no income. And, relating back to number one, if you have no income and you are spending more than you have, you are in debt.
5. Gambling addiction
Playing blackjack online seems like a guaranteed, safe, and easy way of earning money. Even at ca-sinos, you can find yourself gambling and earning money. However, gabling is bad. It could take all the money out of your pockets just in minutes. Gambling is addictive and hard to stop, and burns money fast. Also, don't forget that it's actually a form of entertainment! Debt is waiting for you if you are a heavy gambler!
6. Medical expenses
Well, it seems like this one cannot be avoided. We need medicine from time to time. However, your medical expenses could pile up and leave loads of unpaid cash on your credit card. Diseases can't be avoided but you can sure try and prevent them!
7. Saving very little or saving anything at all
This is what a lot of teens are doing. They are saving very, very little, or worse...nothing at all! Make a commitment right now that you save at least 10% of what you earn. Saving money won't cost you your life, so save up!
8. Lack money communication skills
Communicate and discuss about your money with your parents. I'm sure they would be happy to help you. Plan on how you would use your cash, or credit card beforehand. Set a limit and stay within it. Also, plan on how you would earn money to save and pay off your credit card.
9. Banking on windfalll
Again, I will remind you to plan on how to use your money. This means setting a limit on what you want to spend. Spending tomorrow's money today won't help you stay away from debt at all! Be very careful with money and how you plan to spend it.
10. Financial illiteracy
Money management is not in the school curriculum. But that doesn't mean you can't ever learn it. If you are lucky, your parents could teach you about money management, or you could find a course or stumble on a website like this one. However, you are the one responsible for managing your money the right way, but if you make a mistake on the money road, it will cost you a lot and you will be in debt. So, study up!
I hope these tips helped you. Try to remember these pointers and try to avoid debt!
